Hebridean Escape
I’ve been going to Islay all my life. My family has generations of history there, and so many of my happiest memories are tied to the island.
Windswept days spent on Kilnaughton Beach, trips around the island, walks to the square lighthouse and the twice-a-day highlight of the boat coming in.
My husband and I got engaged at the famous square lighthouse there, so it’s always held a special kind of magic for me. I’m so drawn to Islay at all times of the year, but especially in Autumn, maybe because it’s so elemental.
So this week’s Edit is inspired by the island itself – a little Hebridean hideaway filled with warmth, texture and light.
I’ve gone for a modern Scot Scandi feel with amber tones, sea blues and soft neutrals, inspired by machair grass, sand dunes, the white foam of the waves and the ever-present brightness, even on a grey day.
A blend of Islay, mid-century calm with my signature pops of warm colour – the kind of space I’d love to curl up in with a good book, a wool throw and a wee dram…
